Who We Are
JWMedia started out shooting documentaries and multi-camera live coverage of indie shows around San Diego. Music videos became the specialty from there — including a San Diego Music Award for Best Music Video in May 2026 with The Gravities' "Stuck in the Desert." The same crew still covers live events, documentaries and short films, corporate livestreaming, and photography for artists, venues, and brands across the city.
We produce short films today, with feature-length work on the horizon. Whatever the format, one team carries the project from first concept to final delivery.

SHORT FILM | ROMANCE
Winner, Best Original Song at the San Diego Short Film Festival's Q3 showcase: a devious romance emerges in the midst of a tragic breakup, written and directed by Jacob Willett. A queer satire with a fully custom-composed score performed by real session musicians on live brass, organ, piano, and clarinet, inspired by John Waters and Divine's "Female Trouble" — the lead actress came into the studio to record vocals.
MUSIC VIDEO
A cinematic, high-octane music video for The Gravities: when a bank robbery gets botched, the band has no choice but to destroy the money, or risk being killed. JWMedia's first official music video — the first time Jacob Willett wrote and directed a music video, made while he was still a film student at SDSU, with cinematography by Austin Harris (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Black Panther, Baby Driver). Winner, Best Music Video at the San Diego Music Awards in May 2026.

A high-energy official music video for The Resinators — formed in Oregon in 2015, relocated to San Diego in 2018 — written and directed by the band, shot by Jacob Willett and Jacob Clement.
COMEDY SHORT FILM
Everybody has their hang ups. Anticipating a date at his overly messy apartment, a man frantically cleans and rearranges everything in sight — and unravels when his date doesn't show by 7:00. A montage cut entirely to John Waters and Divine's "Female Trouble." Written, directed, and starring Jacob Willett, with Gabe Zendejas as DP, editor, and colorist — made on a budget under $200. One of two shorts, alongside DEFICIT, that got Jacob into SDSU's film production program.

Late-night bus-stop surrealism: while waiting for the last bus of the night, an eccentric, socially awkward server tries to make conversation with the mysterious suited man beside him — and things get increasingly bizarre and surreal, set to a custom-composed score performed by real session musicians. Written, directed, and starring Jacob Willett, with Gabe Zendejas as DP, editor, and colorist — made on a budget under $200. One of two shorts, alongside Hang-Ups, that got Jacob into SDSU's film production program.

A fine-dining chef cashes in on his bad luck — a dark comedy short about ambition and consequence, directed by Jacob Willett and starring musicians Riston Diggs as the chef and Primo Dirty as the thief, scored with Riston Diggs' own music. Shot one week before "Stuck in the Desert."
